QDVC in $535m deal for seven Lusail Rail stations

2012/02/15 - (CWonline Dubai): Qatar Railways (QRail) had inked a $535m deal with Qatari Diar Vinci Construction (QDVC) for the new phase of works on the Lusail Light Rail Transit (LRT) system. The contract covers civil engineering work on seven underground stations, a viaduct and preliminary works on a Light Rail Transit depot and maintenance workshop. The contract will take 38 months to complete.....

Kuwait’s $7bn metro gets green light

2012/02/17 - (ArabianBusiness.com UAE): Kuwait is pushing ahead with its new metro rail system, with the company in charge of building the first phase of the project announcing that it will begin procurement “shortly”.

Construction of the 160-km Kuwait Metropolitan Rapid Transit System Project (KMRT), which will have 69 stations on three lines, is worth an estimated $7bn.

IDB/Projects: US$ 229 million Mega Railway Project for Turkey amongst US$ 668 million Funding Approvals by IDB Board

2012/02/22 (IINA Saudi Arabia):JEDDAH,29 Rabi al-Awwal/22 Feb.(IINA)-The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has extended a US$ 229 million funding for financing the rolling stock for the mega high speed 304 kilometer railway line between Ankara and Konya in the Republic of Turkey.

The financing is part of the US$ 668 million the Board of Executive Directors of the IDB approved at its 281st session for various development projects in member countries and for Muslim communities in non-member countries. The meeting that started on Sunday, 19 February, was chaired by IDB Group President, Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali....

Israel draws plan for 475-kilometer rail network in West Bank

2012/02/27 (Hareetz Israel): Israel Railways has prepared a major plan for providing train service throughout the West Bank to serve both Israelis and Palestinians.

The plan, prepared at the request of Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz, calls for establishing 11 new rail lines, according to a map that Haaretz has obtained. Katz has on several occasions expressed his intention to build a railway network in the West Bank.....
