World's longest railway tunnel

11/05/2012 (Rediff Business - India):The excavation work to build the world's longest railway tunnel beneath the Swiss Alps is complete. 

The high-speed rail link in Switzerland, where passenger trains can travel at a maximum speed of up to 250 kilometres per hour, will be operational by 2016. 
With a route length of 57 km, it surpasses the Seikan Tunnel in Japan....

Investment on railways down in first four months

16/05/2012 (China.org - China):Investment in China's railways saw a significant drop in the first four months of the year, new data from the Ministry of Railways (MOR) showed.

Fixed-asset investment in Chinese railways decreased 48.3 percent from a year earlier to 89.6 billion yuan (14.2 billion U.S. dollars) during the January-April period, among which investment in infrastructure shed 54.1 percent to 71.71 billion yuan, according to the MOR....

Andhra train accident: Railways blame driver for jumping red signal
