Moroccan Railway Group Wants to Build a Train Completely ‘Made in Morocco’

22/09/2017 (Morocco World News - Morocco): The Cherifian Company of Industrial and Railway Equipment (SCIF) is partnering with the government to turn the rail industry into a leading economic hub in Morocco, following the steps of the automotive sector. The Group’s ultimate goal is to manufacture the first train that is 100 percent “Made in Morocco.” For the the manufacturer and renovator of railway equipment, developing the sector in terms of research, innovation, and added value is a must. After launching the Moroccan Railway Industry Group (GIFER) back in 2016 as the first Moroccan consortium to federate, represent, and defend the interests of railway companies in Morocco, the SCIF is now bringing together around 30 other companies to introduce motorization into the Moroccan rail industry.

Construction Site of the Tangier-Casablanca HSL 92% Complete

30/08/2017 (Morocco World News - Morocco): The construction site of the Tangier-Casablanca high-speed rail line has reached 90 percent completion, according to Abdelkader Amara, Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water. Amar visited the sites of the future HST railway station in Tangier, the maintenance workshop, and the El Hachef viaduct. The construction works of the HSL Tanger-Casablanca line increased by 1 percent during the month of August. “It now has an overall turnover rate of 92 percent,” the Minister confirmed to MAP. “This mega-project will promote Morocco’s entry into an advanced phase of HST technology, while allowing it to be ahead of several countries and to set itself up as a model on the field at the African and Arab levels.”

Egypt starts comprehensive plan to develop railway system

24/09/2017 (Gulf News - Bahrain): Saudi Arabia will start operations on the country's longest railway, running 2,750-km between capital Riyadh and the northern city of Gurayat, on December 24. New Karmiel-Tel Aviv train line to open, with access for Israeli Arab towns

17/09/2017 (The Times of Israel - Israel): Hundreds of thousands of Israeli Arabs from the Galilee in northern Israel will join their Jewish neighbors in enjoying a new fast train link to Tel Aviv, where jobs are in greater in supply, after a campaign by a civic equality group sought to ensure equal access for all. The 90-minute Karmiel-Tel Aviv line will open next week, along with two new stations, at Karmiel in the northern Galilee and Ahihud in the western Galilee.
